Top 3 Sydney Car Locations

Finding the right location is one of the most important parts of car photography. You can have perfect lighting, the right gear, and a great looking car, but if the background is messy or distracting, the whole shot falls apart.

After spending a few years shooting around Sydney, I’ve learned which spots have good natural light, and a cinematic atmosphere that makes any car stand out. In this blog, I’m sharing my go to locations across Sydney. These places are ones that have helped me create some of my best work and that you can use to level up your own car photography.

Locations #1: Blues Point Rd, McMahons Point

This spot on Blues Point Road is honestly one of my favourite places to shoot in Sydney. You get the Harbour Bridge right behind the car, the Opera House off to the side, and this clean open space lets the car work well in the frame. Even on a foggy or rainy day it looks great, the weather actually adds mood instead of ruining the shot. It’s just one of those locations where you can point your camera anywhere and the photo comes out looking special.

Locations #2: Foreshore Road Boat Ramp, Botany

This spot has a cool mix of industrial and coastal vibes that makes it stand out. You get this clean, open shoreline for the car to sit in, but behind it there’s a runway where planes are constantly coming and going. It adds this unexpected atmosphere to an otherwise quiet location. The space here makes the car look super balanced in the frame, and the horizon line gives everything a really clean, almost minimal look. It’s one of those places where you can catch a peaceful scene and a bit of action at the same time which is perfect for car photos.

Locations #3: Larkin St, Waverton

What I like about this spot is how it frames the car without needing much effort. The Harbour Bridge sits perfectly in the background, but it’s far enough away that it doesn’t steal attention. The open road, the clean lines and the natural light all work together to make the car look sharp from all angles. It’s one of those places where the city and nature blend just perfectly, giving you a simple but super polished look.
